“Kathryn is a really lovely Reiki healer. I always feel so much better when I’ve seen her, and she is very wise!

She’s helped with some long term pain issues and also helped me deepen my own practice as a Reiki master myself. She’s a very talented lady!”

“Have had 2 Reiki and Soundbath sessions so far and to say it has been helpful is an understatement. Have been suffering from terrible general anxiety causing me to physically shake etc. Since seeing Kathryn this has virtually stopped. I am feeling clearer-headed and so much less anxious.

Will be continuing as much as possible. Could not recommend more.”

“This was my first experience of Reiki and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little apprehensive. I needn’t have been though, Kathryn talked me through how the session would go and that put me at ease. She has a calming and professional manner and the ambience in the room helps further to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. I felt as if I was snuggled up in cotton wool, secure, warm and calm. Thank you for welcoming me into your home Kathryn and for introducing me to Reiki.

I recommend Kathryn and Meadow Therapies 100% …. Give Reiki a go and go with an open mind.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

In brief, Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient complementary therapy originating from Japan. There is a universal life energy that flows through all living things. When this energy flows freely this enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself and we feel balanced with a sense of well-being. Inevitably from time to time, blockages in this flow of energy arise. During a treatment, blockages are eased as healing energy flows into the recipient enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Reiki most noticeably promotes a deep sense of rest and relaxation. It’s a fabulous antidote to our hectic, often stressful, lifestyles. Furthermore, it can help us think more clearly, calmly and positively. It balances our physical bodies and promotes spiritual and emotional well-being.

What are my Reiki qualifications?

Usui Reiki 1 – Shoden Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western)

Usui Reiki 2 – Okuden Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western)

Usui Reiki Master & Teacher – Shinpiden Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western) and Usui Reiki Ryoho (Eastern)

How can Reiki be combined with Sound Healing?

As well as offering traditional Reiki healing sessions, I can also combine Reiki with a Sound Bath (as part of my Sound Healing training). I use a variety of instruments including Tibetan sound bowls, gongs, drums, tuning forks, and chimes to enhance the healing session creating a sublime, deeply relaxing, healing experience. Find out more here.

What insurance do I have?

All the treatments I offer are insured via Balens Insurance.

Do you offer Distance Reiki?

Yes. It’s perfect if you cannot get to my studio in Pagham, Bognor Regis in person. You can read more about Distance Reiki and book here or call me on 07974 472137.

How long does a Reiki session last?

A Reiki session lasts about 30 minutes or so but please allow up to an hour in total as there will be an initial consultation and time to relax afterwards.

Where will my in-person Reiki session be?

My therapy room is in my home in the village of Nyetimber in Pagham on the outskirts of Bognor Regis.

Is there free parking?

Yes. My house and home studio are set back from the road by a small green. There is a small parking bay by the green and further street parking just a minute’s walk away.

Can I get to Meadow Therapies by public transport?

The 600 bus runs between Chichester and Bognor Regis/Elmer via Nyetimber. The Nyetimber Lane bus stop is about a five-minute walk.

Is Meadow Therapies wheelchair friendly?

Sadly, no. And I apologise for this.

Yes, I have a portable and very comfortable reclining chair that I can bring to you for Reiki home visits in Pagham, Lagness, Bognor Regis, Bersted, and Felpham or further afield on request.

What should I do before and after Reiki?

Please avoid alcohol, caffeine and heavy meals before and after the treatment. Also drink plenty of water, especially afterwards.

After your session, you will be invited to sit and chat about your experience while sipping a glass of water. We recommend rest and meditation following Reiki. Please avoid any strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing, you’ll only need to take off your shoes.

What should I expect?

During the treatment, you’ll lie on your back on a couch. A bolster cushion is available to place under your knees should you wish to use it.

I will then place my hands either on or just above different parts of the body including the seven chakras (energy centres situated at the crown, forehead, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, and the root chakra at the base of your spine). The beauty of Reiki, however, is that the healing energy will flow to wherever it is needed most for your greater good.

While each individual’s experience is unique, you are likely to feel a sense of deep relaxation. During the treatment, you may feel warmth, cooling, tingling, or no noticeable physical feeling at all.

Everyone I have treated reports feeling relaxed and calm, some quite profoundly so, both during and after a treatment.

Does Reiki have any side effects?

Reiki is considered very safe. While the vast majority of people feel deeply relaxed after receiving Reiki, occasionally someone may feel worse before feeling better as the body is healing. This may include feeling tired, having a headache, or stomachache.

Can anyone receive Reiki?

Yes, Reiki is for everyone. There are no contraindications, that is to say, there are no conditions, illnesses and so on that exclude anyone from receiving Reiki. Anyone under the age of 16 should be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

What if I feel unwell before my appointment?

Please cancel or postpone your appointment if you have any symptoms of Covid or any other infectious disease before your appointment. If you have any concerns, please call me on 07974 472137.

Please note: Reiki is not used to diagnose medical conditions and can not replace established medical treatments. I will not prescribe substances, diagnose, or perform any medical treatment, nor will I interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. It is recommended that you see a licensed medical professional for any physical or psychological ailment you may have.
