Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

In brief, Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient complementary therapy originating from Japan. There is a universal life energy that flows through all living things. When this energy flows freely this enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself and we feel balanced with a sense of well-being. Inevitably from time to time, blockages in this flow of energy arise. During a treatment, blockages are eased as healing energy flows into the recipient enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Reiki most noticeably promotes a deep sense of rest and relaxation. It’s a fabulous antidote to our hectic, often stressful, lifestyles. Furthermore, it can help us think more clearly, calmly and positively. It balances our physical bodies and promotes spiritual and emotional well-being.

How can Reiki be combined with Sound Healing?

As well as offering traditional Reiki healing sessions, I can also combine Reiki with a Sound Bath. I use a variety of instruments including Tibetan bowls, gongs, drums, tuning forks, and chimes to enhance the healing session creating a sublime, deeply relaxing, healing experience.

Please email me at info@meadowtherapies.com or call 07974 472137.

If, on the other hand, you are in a position to do so and would like to ‘pay it forward’ please feel free to add a tip on the day which will go towards supplementing the treatment for someone on a low income.

How long does a Reiki with Sound Bath session last?

A Sound Bath with Reiki session lasts about one hour but please allow up to an hour and a half in total as there will be an initial consultation and time to relax afterwards.

Where will my in-person one-to-one Reiki with Sound Bath session be?

My therapy room is in Annandale Avenue, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, a ten-minute walk from Bognor’s railway station. The full address will be given to you once booked.

Please note my treatment room is on the first floor and there isn’t a lift.

There is free street parking outside.

What should I do before and after my treatment?

Please avoid alcohol, caffeine and heavy meals before and after the treatment. Also drink plenty of water, especially afterwards.

After your session, you will be invited to sit and chat about your experience while sipping a glass of water. We recommend rest and meditation following the treatment. Please avoid any strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing, you’ll only need to remove your shoes.

What should I expect?

During the treatment, you’ll lie on your back on a couch. A bolster cushion is available to place under your knees should you wish to use it.

We will start with a guided meditation to help you relax before I start the Reiki treatment. This involves placing my hands either on or just above different parts of the body which may include the seven chakras (energy centres situated at the crown, forehead, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, and the root chakra at the base of your spine).

I will then play a variety of instruments including Tibetan bowls, chimes and drums and sometimes a gong to help you relax further before continuing with the Reiki.

While each individual’s experience is unique, you are likely to feel a sense of deep relaxation. While receiving Reiki you may feel warmth, cooling, tingling, or no noticeable physical feeling at all.

Everyone I have treated reports feeling relaxed and calm, some quite profoundly so, both during and after a treatment.
