The Usui System of Natural Healing
Reiki literally translates from Japanese as ‘Universal Life Force’.
This ancient healing system was rediscovered in the early 20th century in Japan and is today a widely respected complementary therapy used in many holistic therapy centres, spas, hospitals and hospices.
What is Reiki?
In brief, Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient complementary therapy originating from Japan. During a treatment, healing energy flows into the recipient enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Reiki most noticeably promotes a deep sense of rest and relaxation. It’s a fabulous antidote to our hectic, often stressful, lifestyles.
What are my Reiki qualifications?
Usui Reiki 1 – Shoden Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western)
Usui Reiki 2 – Okuden Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western)
Usui Reiki Master & Teacher – Shinpiden Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western) and Usui Reiki Ryoho (Eastern)
How can Reiki be combined with Sound Healing?
As well as offering traditional Reiki healing sessions, I can also combine Reiki with a Sound Bath (as part of my Sound Healing training). I use a variety of instruments including Tibetan sound bowls, gongs, drums, tuning forks, and chimes to enhance the healing session creating a sublime, deeply relaxing, healing experience.
What insurance do I have?
I am insured via Balens Insurance to offer Reiki as a qualified Reiki Master and sound healing as a student of the Sound Healing Academy.
How much does a Reiki session cost?
I would like everyone to have the opportunity to receive Reiki so I charge the following levels.
Low income – if you are on a low income please do use this option – £10
Standard – If you can afford it, this is the standard amount I charge – £20
Pay it forward – If you are in a position to, please pay a little extra, thereby enabling someone on a low income to also benefit from Reiki – £30
How do I book a Reiki session?
From September, sessions will be available Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday mornings, subject to availability. Other days and times are available on request.
To book or make an enquiry, please email me at info@meadowtherapies.com or call 07974 472137.
How long does a Reiki session last?
A Reiki session lasts about 30 minutes or so but please allow up to an hour in total as there will be an initial consultation and time to relax afterwards.
Where will my in-person Reiki session be?
My therapy room is in South Bersted, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, a ten-minute walk from Bognor’s railway station. I will give you the full address before you confirm your booking.
There is free street parking outside.
What should I do before and after Reiki?
Please avoid alcohol, caffeine and heavy meals before and after the treatment. Also drink plenty of water, especially afterwards.
After your session, you will be invited to sit and chat about your experience while sipping a glass of water. We recommend rest and meditation following Reiki. Please avoid any strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing, you’ll only need to take off your shoes.
What should I expect?
During the treatment, you’ll lie on your back on a couch. A bolster cushion is available to place under your knees should you wish to use it.
I will then place my hands either on or just above different parts of the body including the seven chakras (energy centres situated at the crown, forehead, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, and the root chakra at the base of your spine). The beauty of Reiki, however, is that the healing energy will flow to wherever it is needed most for your greater good.
While each individual’s experience is unique, you are likely to feel a sense of deep relaxation. During the treatment, you may feel warmth, cooling, tingling, or no noticeable physical feeling at all.
Everyone I have treated reports feeling relaxed and calm, some quite profoundly so, both during and after a treatment.
Does Reiki have any side effects?
Reiki is considered very safe. While the vast majority of people feel deeply relaxed after receiving Reiki, occasionally someone may feel worse before feeling better as the body is healing. This may include feeling tired, having a headache, or stomachache.
Can anyone receive Reiki?
Yes, Reiki is for everyone. There are no contraindications, that is to say, there are no conditions, illnesses and so on that exclude anyone from receiving Reiki. Anyone under the age of 16 should be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
What if I feel unwell before my appointment?
Please cancel or postpone your appointment if you have any symptoms of Covid or any other infectious disease before your appointment. If you have any concerns, please call me on 07974 472137.
Please note: Reiki is not used to diagnose medical conditions and can not replace established medical treatments. I will not prescribe substances, diagnose, or perform any medical treatment, nor will I interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. It is recommended that you see a licensed medical professional for any physical or psychological ailment you may have.
